Choice in music can effect mental health

Music effects the chemical balance of our minds. It is a highly emotional form of communication. Hard core, hard rock, punk, hard alternative take you to highs and lows in your mood. Hip hop also increases your excitement level. All of this regularly  can effect your emotions as well as the dopamine level in your mind. Music can be one of the factors behind bipolar disorder or ADHD, as well as depression. See Book by Doctor Joel Robertson-Prozac Backlash for a detailed explanation of how music effects chemical imbalances.

By mellowing out in our taste in music, toning down the intensity and quantity, it can positively effect our mental health.
